•What is the host town initiative?
The host town initiative aims to connect Japanese local towns and countries taking part in the Tokyo Games, with the purpose of promoting cultural, economical, educational and person to person exchange between the two nations . By having a Host Town, the participating country can maximize the performance of its national team in the competition, promote the country’s relation with Japan, and also develop a long-term relationship (such as sister city exchange) with Japanese local towns.
The host towns have been recognized by the Cabinet Secretariat of Japan, as venues capable of hosting an international sports team under conditions specified below;

3.The town has hosted international level training camps in the past
4.The town has hosted National Sports Festival (Kokutai)

6. Availability of regional/local instructors
7. Presence of a local factory in the target nation or vice versa
8. Having the same town name or representative flower as the target nation
9. Got introduced to the target nation by chance.
Although Okuizumo's relation with India began after the host town registration, the presence of hockey facilities, local instructors, and past hockey Olympians, lead to the decision of holding a hockey camp in the town.
